Charles Vincent O'Hara
1937-2026
Charles Vincent O'Hara, 89, passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2026 at the Moncton Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 17th, 1937 the son of the late Otto and Violet (Tingley) O'Hara.
Charlie worked at CN and was the Humpyard foreman before his retirement where he was known as a dedicated and hardworking man. Those who had the privilege of working alongside him appreciated not only his strong work ethic, but also his kindness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humour. Charlie loved to laugh and had a way of making those around him smile. He never took himself too seriously and could always find joy in life's simple moments.
One of the greatest blessings of Charlie's life was meeting and marrying the love of his life, Glenda. Together they built a home filled with love, faith, laughter, and family, raising five children who meant the world to them. While Glenda was often the disciplinarian, Charlie was the gentle soul his children could always turn to for comfort, encouragement, and understanding. Though he was a man of great stature, his heart was even bigger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was always there when he was needed.
Charlie loved bringing family together and found great joy in cooking and hosting gatherings. There was always room for one more at the table, and everyone who entered the O'Hara home was made to feel welcome. Charlie and Glenda's door was always open to family, friends, and neighbours alike, making their home a place of warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
He took tremendous pride in his home and property, caring for it with dedication and love over the years. Whether tending his gardens, mowing the lawn, or simply sitting back to admire the beauty around him, his home was truly his little piece of paradise. Charlie also enjoyed his hobby farm, spending time in the hayfields and lending a hand with surveying work for a neighbour. Anything that allowed him to be outdoors brought him happiness, and he was never more content than when he was surrounded by nature and keeping busy.
A man of deep faith, Charlie was a devoted member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church for many years. He generously shared his musical talents with the congregation, playing music during services and faithfully serving wherever he was needed. He was one of those dependable people everyone knew they could call upon, and he quietly made a difference in the lives of many.
Music was Charlie's lifelong passion. He loved playing guitar and singing, and he played an important role in helping establish the popular Music Nights in Hillsborough. As a member of the Rocky Cape Band, he performed throughout Albert County, bringing enjoyment to countless audiences over the years. Charlie and his fellow musicians often donated their time and talents to benefit concerts, fundraisers, local fire departments, and anyone facing hardship. He believed in helping others whenever he could, and through his music he touched many lives and formed countless friendships. "His hands played the music, but his heart touched the people."
Above all else, Charlie's family was the centre of his world. After the loss of his beloved Glenda, he was deeply grateful for the unwavering love and support of his children. They stood by him through every season of life, caring for him day and night and ensuring he was never alone. Their devotion was a reflection of the love and care Charlie had given them throughout their lives. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow, and in his final years Charlie was surrounded by the very same love, kindness, and devotion that he had so generously shared with others for so many years.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Danny "Schultz" O'Hara (Lynn) of Waterside, Joe O'Hara (Connie) of Alma, Teresa O'Hara of Riverside-Albert, Maureen O'Hara of Salisbury and daughter-in-law, Tracy O'Hara of New Horton his treasured grandchildren, Brandon (Jenny), Aaron (Tandah), Johannah (Brad), Justin (Morgayanna), Alicia (Jon), Katie (David), Hailey and Joe (Melissa); his precious great-grandchildren, Sophie, Emily, Logan, Daniel, Charlie, Autumn, Olly, Otto, Andie, Jonah, Ben, Will, Anna, Sam. Charlie was excited about the new little ones expected soon and we will be sure they know the legacy of their great grampie.; his sister, Patsy Charette (Beo) of Maine and sister-in-law Nancy McNutt (Gary) of Hillsborough. He will also be missed by all his nieces, nephews, extended family and his church family and many friends.
