Rev. Donald Vincent MacDougall

Rev. Don MacDougall went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on March 25th, 2026. His passing was sudden and unexpected at the Moncton Hospital, leaving those who loved him in deep sorrow. While his loss is felt profoundly, there is also comfort in knowing that Don is now at peace—home at last, embraced in the presence of his Heavenly Father, where his joy is complete.

As Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:8 (King James Version):
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."

He was born in Moncton on July 3rd, 1946 the son of the late Vincent MacDougall and Doris (Hawkes) Stevens- Steeves and lovingly raised by the only father he knew, Leonard Stevens.

Don was raised in Hopewell Hill, a true Albert County boy at heart. Growing up on the family farm alongside his siblings, he learned early on the value of hard work, but also found plenty of time for adventure and laughter. Those years shaped the kind, steady, and grounded man he would become. He attended Riverside Consolidated School, and after finishing his studies, spent a period of time serving in the military.

Not long after, Don met the love of his life, Pat, and together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and purpose. Feeling called to ministry, Don pursued his training and went on to serve his Lord with a full and faithful heart. He and Pat travelled throughout the Maritimes, opening their hearts to the many churches and communities they served. Along the way, those congregations became like extended family to them. He also became a familiar and welcome presence at McNair Manor, where visiting with residents was part of his weekly routine for many years. He was always willing to serve—often guest speaking at numerous churches and stepping in to help whenever he was needed.

At home, Don was a loving and devoted husband, and a proud father to Jeff and Leanne, who meant everything to him. He found so much joy in watching them grow and was deeply proud of the people they became. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart—they were truly the light of his life. Don was a steady, caring Grampy they could always count on, always there with love, support, and a helping hand whenever they needed him. He always lit up when he saw his great-grandchildren, and nothing brought him more joy than time spent with them. He was especially thrilled to meet the newest arrival, his namesake, Barrett Donald—a moment that meant so much to him.

Don was a humble and steady presence in the lives of so many. Within his family and beyond, he was often the one people turned to in times of need. He was often the one called upon to officiate life’s most meaningful moments in the family — weddings, baptisms, and funerals — and he carried each of those responsibilities with great care and sincerity. He listened without judgment, offered comfort and wisdom, and helped others see things more clearly when life felt overwhelming.  Don had a special way of connecting with people, and through that, quietly led many toward faith.  A scripture that guided Don’s life was Matthew 5:16 (King James Version): "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

After the passing of his beloved wife Patricia "Pat," Don was grateful to find love again with Wanda. Their marriage brought him comfort, companionship, and renewed happiness in his later years. They truly enjoyed their time together, sharing many moments and experiences that brought joy back into his life and made those years all the more meaningful.
