Michael James Kenney
1963-2024
Michael James Kenney, 61, of Forest Dale Home passed away peacefully at the home with his family by his side.
Michael was born in Boston on March 1st, 1963 the son of the late Thomas Paul Kenney and Teresa (Beck) Kenney- Mercer.
Mike spent most of his life living in Riverside-Albert. He was a faithful member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He often sang in the choir and was known to sell many tickets for upcoming events or fundraisers. His faith was a big part of his life. He was known for his great sense of humour and loved to laugh and joke around. Mike loved music and often played the spoons with his uncle Cecil at many music nights and jamborees. They were locally known as "Big and Little". Forest Dale became his home and he always participated and enjoyed the activities they had to offer. Mike lost his parents and his sisters but felt blessed to have his cousins, Phyllis and Loretta, step in and treat him so well. They made sure he was looked after and all his needs and wants were met. His love of food often resulted in the delivery of his very specific favorite foods and or outings to one of his many favorite restaurants. Mike enjoyed celebrating all special occasions and they made sure at Christmas time Mike got what he wanted. He often called Phyllis and Loretta just to check in and see what they were up to. He will be remembered for his big heart and for his unique laugh. Mike’s love of faith, food & friends was obvious to all. He is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
He will be missed by his half-sister, Marilyn McCann of Abbottsville, BC; cousins, Phyllis Hudson and Loretta Elderkin, Uncle Raymond, Aunt Greta and all his many cousins, and by all his church family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Thomas Kenney, Teresa (Beck) Kenney-Mercer, step-father, Fred Mercer and sisters, Dottie and Diane; several aunts and uncles.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a very special thank you to Forest Dale Home who have taken such great care of Mike in the last few years. He loved it there and the kindness and care given will never be forgotten. A special note of appreciation to the Albert Career Development Centre for their involvement in Mikes' life by taking him on outings and ensuring he always stayed in contact with his friends at the Centre.
