Ellen Lynn Beals
1945-2024
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Lynn Beals, 78, of Stoney Creek. Lynn passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lynn was born in Lower Cape, NB on August 15, 1945 the daughter of the late Jack and Geraldine (Corcoran) Nelson.
She retired from the Canadian National Railways after a
long career at the "Glass House", "Killam Drive"
and Intermodal. Lynn was a member of the St. Mary's Anglican Church,
ACW, and Legion Branch #32, all located in Hillsborough. She
also served as a director for the Mountain View Cemetery and greatly
enjoyed her bowling league.
Lynn was a strong, independant and determined
woman. She was the caregiver to all and was happiest when
giving of herself. In true mom fashion, right up to the end
she was instructing us on how to hold the next social gathering and
family celebration. She was still thinking of
others.
She was a very special Mom and Nanny/Nan. Mom
always supported us, her daughters, she encouraged us to do anything
we set our minds to and anything our "hearts
desired". Mom was always active in our school and
extracurricular activities. Our home was a place where
everyone was welcome. Family and friends have fond memories of their
visits and the many celebrations that took place over the
years.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and they were
fortunate to spend a lot of time with Nan and Gramp. She was always
planning time with her grandchildren especially over March Break,
summer vacation, Christmas and inservice days. Nan was
always sure to have their favourite treats on hand and always arranged
the most fun outings for them. Making memories was always
very important to her. We will be forever grateful for the
love mom gave to our children.
Lynn will be deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, Gary
Beals of Stoney Creek, and her cherished daughters, Jackie Poirier
(Paul) of Hammonds Plains, NS and Amber Glavin (Tony) of Enfield, NS;
her precious grandchildren, Tyler, Cally and Lyric; her sister,
Carolyn Ryll (Eric) of Nanaimo, BC; brothers-in-law, David Beals of
Moncton and Bjorn Magnussen of Ski, Norway. She will also be
missed by her dearest nieces Wendy Andrew and Lori Taylor (Carey) of
Moncton, great-nieces and nephew, Cassidy, Cali and Calen and many
special cousins, Darlene and Edward Douthwright, Allen, Roy, Rae, Faye
and Nina (O'Blenis Family) and great aunts, Marie Nelson and Frances
Douthwright and her many cherished friends and extended family in
Alberta, Cape Breton and Norway.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her infant
sister, Patricia and sister Sharon
Magnussen.
Honouring Lynn's own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service. All are welcome to attend the graveside
service at the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, NB on May 24th,
2024 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a contribution in
honor of Lynn, donations can be made to the SPCA, Hope for Wildlife,
Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of the donor's
choice.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Darlene
and Edward Douthwright, Aunt Carolyn, Kathy and Irving Hawkes, Carole
Jensen and Brenda Knight, the Pauley family and the ladies at the
Homestead Restaurant for their care, love, and friendship they gave to
mom (and dad) during her illness.
