Alida "Ida" Maye Steeves
Alida "Ida" Maye Steeves
Alida " Ida" Maye Steeves, 73, of Albert Mines passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital with her family by her side.  Ida was born in Harcourt, Kent County on February 8th, 1950 the daughter of Aubrey and Bessie (Hawkes) Whalen.

Ida first worked at T.Eaton Company and then worked as a Food and Beverage Manager for most of her career, she was good at it. She worked at the Rocks and enjoyed working with the Salem & Hillsborough Railroad.  She enjoyed cooking and making sure people received  good service and quality food.   Ida helped show many people the ins and outs of the industry and taught many how to be personable and professional at the same time.  She never took herself too seriously and made work enjoyable. She was a member of the Lower Cape Baptist Church.  She enjoyed time gardening and loved her little paradise on earth in Albert Mines.  She had a great way of making the property's beauty come alive with all her flower gardens.  She had a special place in her heart for her two dogs, Zoey and Zena.  She was a member of the Hillsborough Legion Branch # 32 and supported her husband David who served as a veteran and also had a history there as her mother was a big part of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Her family was very important to her.  She was always there for her children, someone they could count on whatever the case may be.   Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.  She spoiled them and wanted to be that grandma that they could turn to for anything.  She had a huge heart.  Ida enjoyed having fun and was not shy at all, always up for anything.  She will be remembered for her big smile and laugh as she would light up the room.

MOM and GRAMMY-  You were our sunshine on a cloudy day, when we were sick you kissed the pain away.  The love you gave was honest and pure, always keeping us safe and secure. You made flowers bloom in the spring, it was you who fixed our broken wings.  Because of you we know love, You are now our guardian angel from above.

She will be deeply missed by her husband and best friend, David Steeves; daughter, Jennifer "Jenny" Steeves (Collin) of Riverview; sons David Steeves of Hillsborough and Wallace "Wally" Steeves of BC; step-daughter, Lisa Steeves of ON; her treasured grandchildren, Taylor, Alex, Mackaylee-Anne, Finn, Savannah and Edward; sister, Belva Carlin (Earl) of Riverview; brothers, Bill Whalen (Robin) of ON, Randy Whalen (Craig) of Victoria, BC and Bryon O'Brien (Tammy) of Curryville; brother-in-law, Clayton Steeves of Lower Coverdale.  She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins and by all her extended family, in-laws, the Steeves family and by her friends and community.
