Calvin Arthur Griffith
1955-2023

Calvin Arthur Griffith, 67, of Apohaqui and formerly of Shepody passed away suddenly on May 15, 2023 in Penobsquis in a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Saint John on August 31, 1955 the son of Calvin Sr. and Helena Griffith.
Calvin worked as an electrician for the Digby Ferry before
moving to Riverside-Albert and working at Forest Dale Home in the
Maintenance Department for over 30 years until his
retirement. He made many good friends over the years at
Forest Dale and in the community. He enjoyed riding his
motor-cycle, four wheeling and also was known for whipping up tasty
meals. He loved to cook on the barbecue. He felt
fortunate to find his partner, Heather, who enjoyed the same things
and together made a great life for the past 20 years. They
both enjoyed the Harley, being outdoors and the camp life.
They had a trailer for years and made many memories with
their friends over the campfire.
Calvin loved his little camp in the woods. Heather
and Calvin were both active members of the Albert County Trail Blazers
and served on the Board. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage
and doing woodworking. He loved playing his guitar and
having a group of friends sitting around having a good old
hoedown. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and
most of the time you didn't even have to ask, if he thought he could
help he was there. He has left many with a funny
story or a memory of when he came out with some zingers, he had a
great sense of humour. " He really is only a smile
away."
He would want you to take comfort in these words, "If
you are alone, I'll be your shadow. If you cry, I'll be your
shoulder. If you're not happy, I'll be your smile.
If you need me, I'll always be there. Unseen, Unheard but
always near. "
He will be deeply missed by his common-law spouse, Heather
Steeves and her children, Brian Steeves and Laura Surrett (Mike) and
their children, Liam, Adrian and Shea; his uncle Ernest Griffith
(June); nephews, Robert McQuire (Candace), Andrew McQuire (Emma) and
niece, BeeJay Humble (Julia); and by his grand niece, Hope.
He is also survived by two sons, Devin and Charles; several cousins,
all his extended family and friends.
There will be a casual gathering to Celebrate his
Life at the Fundy Curling Club on Saturday, May 27th, 2023 from
2-5pm. Everyone is invited to come and
share stories and have some laughs as Calvin would not have wanted a
lot of tears but to remember all the good times.
Refreshments will be served.
