Terrance Arthur William Way

1946-2023

Terrance Arthur William Way

Terrance Arthur William Way, 77, of Alma passed away on February 2nd, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side.  Terry was born in St. Johns, NL on January 4th, 1946 the son of the late Arthur and Jean Way.

Terry was an RCMP officer and served in several areas during his career of over 30 years.  He was stationed in Jacquet River, Hillsborough, Alma, Grand Manan, Fredericton and Moncton.   After his retirement he worked as an Enforcement Officer for the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Terry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved cooking and gardening.   In his earlier years he met and married Irene Rossiter and her family became his.  They accepted him as one of their own.  He was always included on the hunting and fishing trips and made many memories in the great outdoors.  He and Irene had a son, Todd, who married Shelley McBrine in 1994, then the grandchildren Matthew and Madeline came along. He enjoyed hearing about how things were going and the progress they were making in their own lives.   He had a special fondness for the beautiful scenery in Alma and made this his home and his door was always open for anyone who wanted to visit.  Terry was very hospitable and made everyone feel welcome.

After the loss of his wife Irene in 2007, he was fortunate to find someone special, Sheila, and spend the rest of his life in Alma with her.   He felt blessed to have had not one but two special relationships in his life.  He and Sheila made many wonderful memories in the time they had together.

He will be deeply missed by his partner, Sheila Tissington; his son, Todd (Shelley, Madeline and Matthew) Way of Saint John; sister, Sonia Avery of St. John’s, NL; step-brother, Baxter (Violet) Vincent of St. John's NL; all of the Rossiter family- Doreen Steeves, Mac (Ruth), John (Bettyanne), Milburn (Brenda), Earl (Monica), Roy, Eric (Marla).  He will also be missed by Sheila's children, Brad and Holly Tissington; several nieces, nephews, all his extended family and many friends.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Irene (Rossiter); brother, Carl Way; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Rossiter, Carol Nelson (Herb) and Jean Taylor; brothers-in-law, Hilyard Rossiter (Vivian), James Steeves and Eric Avery.

The family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the Albert County Funeral Home to share memories and reflections on Thursday evening, Feb 9th from 7-9pm.  A Memorial Service to celebrateTerry's life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Friday, Feb10th at 2:00pm with Rev.
