Marie Marthe Brideau-Land

1948-2022

Marie Marthe Brideau-Land

Marie Marthe Brideau Land,73, of Hopewell Cape passed away on May 10th, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family and close friends, just the way she wanted it.

Marie was born in Bathurst on September 9th, 1948, the daughter of the late Hilaire and Marie (Belanger) Brideau.

Marie was a stunning woman, the first time Stephen saw her, he knew she was the one.  They have spent the last 35 years making special memories and being there for each other.  Marie had a sense of style and knew who she was,  from her red lipstick to her stylish haircuts.  She would light up a room when she entered, and you could bet she had the most recent fashion on as she loved to look her best.  She had the clothes closet to prove it.    Marie had a quick wit and always was ready with a comment or just a one liner that would get your attention.   Her facial expressions were priceless; you could know what she was thinking without her saying a word.     She was a very caring person and started the Albert County Home Care where she made it possible for the elderly to be able to stay in their own homes. She organized her team with great efficiency and was always available.  This was a passion of hers, and she took great comfort in knowing she was making a difference in the lives of people that needed her service.

She loved her family very much and had many lifelong friends that she kept in contact with, she scheduled all their vacations to visit with friends and family from afar.  As Marie struggled with her health she felt so blessed to have the help and support of her husband, Stephen, first and foremost and to her family and friends to make her comfortable and be able to stay at home until the end.  Special thanks goes out to Cynthia Stevens and to her guardian angel, Louise Bourbonnais, for all the devoted care and support. Also, thanks to the Extra-Mural Nurses who came and helped care for Marie.  Now that she has passed, she would want everyone to be there for Stephen and help him through this loss as she loved him so much.  "Let the memories of the love we shared, stay locked inside your heart for if you do, were really not apart"

Letting Go-  The angels gathered near your bed, so very close to you.  For they knew the pain and suffering that you were going through.  I thought about so many things, as I held tightly to your hand. Oh, how I wished that you were strong and happy once again.  But your eyes were looking homeward, to that place beyond the sky.  Where Jesus held his outstretched arms, it was time to say goodbye.  I struggled with my selfish thoughts, for I wanted you to stay.  So we could walk and talk again, like we did just yesterday.  But Jesus knew the answer, So I gave to you life's greatest gift, the gift of letting go.  Now my heart will carry memories of the love you gave to me until we meet again in heaven, where the best is yet to be.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Stephen Land; sister, Yvette Brideau (Dave More); step-sister, Denise Ross (John); step-brother, Roger Frenette (Valerie); special cousin, Colette Van Buskirk; special friends, Bonnie Harvie-Leaman and Louise Bourbonnais; father-in-law Mel Land; sister-in-law, Cynthia Stevens (Ken); brothers-in-law, Michael Land (Edith) and Jeff Land (Nancy).  She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews and by many good friends. She had a special place in her heart for her little dog, Charlie,  and her cat,Tom, who have been loyal companions who will be missing her as well.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by sister, Agathe Brideau.
