1928-2022

Dora Anna Maria Braam

Dora was born in Arnhem, Holland on February 17th, 1928 the daughter of the late Hank and Anna (Leyser) Reuling.

Dora moved to Canada from Holland in 1953 with her husband Hank and they started their farming business.   Dora was a farmer's wife who was not afraid to get her hands dirty.  She took on a substantial role at the farm and stepped in whenever needed.    She made sure all her family and farm hands were looked after and definitely fed everyone well, you never left her table hungry.    She always had a pot of tea on the stove and was ready when company stopped in for a chat.   She loved the time she spent outdoors in the garden.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidering, she enjoyed all crafts and made everything with love.  Dora and her husband, Hank became valuable members of their community in Hillsborough.  She started the Brownies group in the area, volunteered at the local Library, and belonged to the Mary Crips Chapter I.O.D.E. , was a life member of the Hillsborough Women's Institute. Dora would walk the streets of Hillsborough and enjoyed meeting up with friends and checking on her neighbours as she walked by, she did this for over 40 years.  She had strong faith and was a dedicated member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Dora's family was her priority in life, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother first and foremost. She was an inspirational woman who has left a legacy of love, hard work and determination for her family.

"Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon her.  May she rest in peace."
