John Burton Eaton

John Burton Eaton, 84, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital.

John was born in Canning, NS, on August 30th, 1937 the son of the late Frederick and Jean (Borden) Eaton.
 
He grew up on an apple farm in Lower Canard, NS. He graduated in 1954 from Kings County Academy in Kentville, NS and was awarded the Governor General's Award for highest grade 12 scores.  After graduation from high school he attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, graduated in 1957 with High Honors and Lifetime Associate of the college.  He furthered his education and Graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.  After his college years he worked at Krafts Foods in Montreal in quality control.
 
He met his soulmate and married Florence "Toots" (Fox) from Hammond Plains in July 1962 and they moved to Hillsboorugh, NB.  He worked at the Co-op Atlantic from 1966 till his retirement in 1994, when he retired he was serving as Manager of Technical Services.   John loved to help people whenever needed. He volunteered for the Moncton Police Force on the Help24 phone line for Victim Services, he also volunteered as an advisor for 3rd World Feed Programs which took him to Bolivia, Thailand and China.  He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart. " Nothing liberates our greatness like the desire to help and the desire to serve others." 
 
He will be missed by his children, Patrick Eaton (Vicki Lane) of Hillsborough, Michelle Eaton- Lusignan (Claude) of Rowdon, Que and Andrea Eaton of Dartmouth; his 4 treasured grandchildren, Josh, Nikita, Chelsea and Jesse; 1 precious great grandchild, Alphee.
 
Besides his parents John was predeceased by his wife, Florence "Toots" Eaton and by his brother, Ron.
 
Honoring John's own wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A Private Graveside Service will be held in the spring in St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Hillsborough, NB.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the Moncton Hospital Staff, ER Doctors and the Family Medicine Team on 3600.  The compassion and caring shown was beyond compare and will never be forgotten.  Many thanks to Lisa of the Albert County Funeral Home for your guidance and help through this time.
