Matthew Wayne Powers

1977-2021

Matthew Wayne Powers

Matthew Wayne Powers, 44, of Moncton passed away unexpectedly on December 6th, 2021 at the Moncton Hospital with his wife, Amy, by his side.

Matthew was born in Moncton on April 26th, 1977 the son of Steve and Donna (Reid) of Hillsborough.

Matt worked for Rexel Atlantic- inside sales, he enjoyed working there for the past 10 years.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all sports, but especially cheered for the Edmonton Oilers and Green Bay Packers.  He recently started karate with his son, Emmett, and they had just earned their yellow belts together.  He was a very devoted and caring dad and his family meant the world to him.  Matt had an interest in lighthouses he and Amy traveled all over the maritimes, driving down many a dirt road to find them.  He also had a fascination with trains which he passed on to his boys. They enjoyed traveling and camping and took the boys to many campgrounds for fun filled adventures.  Matt was a kind man with a huge heart and a big smile to match. He would want Emmett and Isaac to be told many stories of their dad and keep his memory alive.

He will be deeply missed by his best friend and wife of 15 years, Amy (Chase) Powers; his precious boys, Emmett and Isaac; his parents, Steve and Donna Powers of Hillsborough; twin brother, Michael Powers (Amanda) of Moncton; mother-in-law, Susan Chase (Phil) of Dieppe; his brothers-in-law, Jonathan Chase (Melanie) of Dieppe and Derek Chase (Roxanne) and his treasured niece Eleanor of Riverview. He will also be missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Darrel Chase
