Lloyd "David" Betts

1949-2021

Lloyd "David" Betts

David Betts, 72, of Riverside- Albert passed away suddenly on November 23rd, 2021 at his residence following a battle with a lengthy illness.

David was born in Riverside-Albert on November 2nd, 1949 the son of the late Lloyd Earl and Julia Mae McLeod) Betts.

He worked as a Mechanic for NB Tel and one of his last jobs was working on the generators at the cell towers before his retirement.  He enjoyed being outdoors; fishing and hunting, even getting in on the last hunting season this past Saturday.  David was small in stature but had a huge heart.  He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed help.  He enjoyed getting together and spending time with his friends.    He would want everyone to remember the good times they shared and all the laughs.  His girls were his pride and joy and he would want them to know how much he loved them and their families.  They had a very special place in his heart.   His girls were the biggest achievement in his life and as he would say the best thing that ever happened to him. Through life's struggles he did the best he could,  may fond memories cling.   "See you in the spring".

He will be missed by his daughters, Jana Danahy (Eric) of Lethbridge,NFLD and Jessica Dorey (Joshua) of Hillsborough; his grandchildren, Katelin (Danny), Kurtis, Emma, Ava, Ezra, and Luca; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Noah, Chloe, Kamdyn and Aria; sisters, Nancy Keirstead (Robert) of Hopewell Hill, Joan Malenfant (Peter) of Barrie, ON and Jessie Douthwright (Derrick) of Riverside-Albert; brother, Brian Betts (Phyllis) of Riverside-Albert.  He will also be missed by and by the mother of his children, Elizabeth Collins; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Especially by his close friend Alan Murray who was his chauffeur and hunting buddy the past few years.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy McIver (Wesley) and Shirley Woodworth (Lester).

Honouring David's own wishes there will be no visitation.   A Celebration of his life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Saturday, November 27th, 2021 at 2:00pm with Pastor Josh Dorey officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.
