Mona Marie Sanford

1931-2021

Mona Marie Sanford
It is with deepest sorrow that the family announce the passing of Mona Marie Sanford,89, of Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough and formerly of Alma.  She passed away peacefully on Sept 9th, 2021 at the Moncton Hospital with her family by her side.

Mona was born in Halifax on November 7th, 1931 the daughter of the late Berton and Luella (McQuaid) Mosher.

Mona met her soulmate, Nat, at a young age, it was love at first sight, they married and together they raised their children.   They were caring and respected each other which was a great example for all to see.  She was an awesome wife, mother and grandmother and took the role very seriously.  Her family was her main priority in life and she was always there for them.  Mona was a kind and caring lady who had a way of making everyone feel like they were the special one.  She loved to laugh and was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends.   She had a lot of fun over the years.  She was active in her community and helped with the Alma Rink and Girl Guides.   Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, she always joined in all the activities and was young at heart, her last adventure was going four wheeling with her great grandson.  She supported them all by going to many hockey games, basketball games and cheering them on, she very seldom would miss an event.  Her door was always open and a welcoming smile for everyone who entered, also a cup of tea and something to eat as well, you never left hungry.  She was a social butterfly who always enjoyed going to music nights and they used to say if there was a car going she was in it.   Mona and her good friend Shirley Halsam travelled the roads of Albert County and never missed a night of entertainment if they could help it.  Mona was a very faithful member of the St Stephen's United Church in Alma and when it closed she was heartbroken, but when Mona moved to Hillsborough she started attending the Hillsborough United Church and felt welcomed by the congregation, she mentioned how nice all the people were and how she felt right at home.  The family appreciated all the kindness shown to Mona, especially to Sandra and Vernon who made sure she had a drive and picked her up every Sunday. Her faith was important to her and she served her church in many ways.  She was a lifetime member of the United Church Women.   Mona has left a legacy of love and will live on in the hearts of her family forever.  She is now reunited with the love of her life, who she longed to be with again, and with all those who have gone before her.  "Rest in peace sweet lady."

She will be deeply missed by her children, Bonna MacPhee (Roger) of Petitcodiac, Wendy Hawkes of Hillsborough, Kenneth Sanford (Phyllis) of Riverside-Albert, Vernon Sanford of Alma, Marie Jollimore (Bruce) of Woodstock and Kathy Sanford of Weldon; her treasured 14 grandchildren, Rhonda Wilson (Brian), Scott MacPhee (Pauline), April Hawkes, Kim Beers (Jeff), Graham Sanford (Samantha), Steven Sanford (Ellen), Nathan Sanford (Celeste), Jon Sanford (Alicia), Lee Stuart, William MacDonald (Melanie), Trevor Jollimore (Carla), Kenzie MacDonald-Auger and James Sanford ; her cherished great-grandchildren, Alyssa & Jacob Wilson, Liam MacPhee, Annabel & Reid Beers, Madisyn, Ryder & Peyton Sanford,  Andie & Jonah Sanford, Bailee & Leia MacDonald and Tara Jollimore.   She will also be missed by all her extended family, several nieces and nephews and by many good friends.
