Betty Mae Hawkes

1933-2021

Betty Mae Hawkes

Betty Mae Hawkes, 87, of Forest Dale Home and formerly of Hillsborough passed away on March 28th, 2021 at the home with her family by her side.

Betty was born in Hillsborough on October 29th,1933 the daughter of the late Ernest and Janie "Jenny" (Snelgrove) Lounsbury.

Betty was a great lady who was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She met the love of her life, Don, and they just celebrated their 67 th Anniversary.  They started their married life together in Woodworth Settlement.  She would go to the woods with Don, do the gardening and whatever needed done.  Her family was her life and she cared for them all so well.  Betty had one daughter and she loved her with all her heart and soul.  When her grandchildren and great grandchildren and then her great-great grandchildren,  came along her heart was full.  She was a lady who really cherished all the family gatherings and always had a card for you on every occasion, Christmas was her favorite as she got to share and give to her loved ones a little more.  She enjoyed shopping and all the bus trips she went on with her sisters, Mary and Cora.  She enjoyed all the times with her sister, Mary and the two of them were always travelling the roads and having fun along the way.  Mary got her to join the Christian Women Group which she enjoyed very much.   Betty made everyone that joined her family feel like they were a special part of her life.  Betty was also very neighbourly and had made many friends at the Kiwanis Apartments where her and Don called home for 23 years, they were all like extended family.   Betty had a passion for music and attended the Rocky Cape Band music night every Thursday night when she was able.  She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart.   Betty would want you to treasure all the good memories that you made with her over the years and be grateful for the times you had.  She is now walking on the streets of gold with her Saviour and is at peace.  "Until we meet again."

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Donald Hawkes of Forest Dale Home; her daughter, Donna Wilson (Brent) of Riverview; grandchildren, Carolyn Collier (Pat) of Albert Mines and Doug Wilson (Karin) of Alberta; her grandchildren, Josh (Natasha), Ryan (Leighanne), Jade (Ryan), Jenna-Mae, Jayden (Tammi), Ethan, Hannah and Charlee; her adopted great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brianna and Rae-Ann;  precious great-great grandchildren, Scott, Madeline and Kaydence; sister, Mary Bailey of Hillsborough.  She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and many good friends.
