W. Allister MacDonald

1934-2021

W. Allister MacDonald

W. Allister MacDonald, 86, of Harvey, Albert County passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Riverside on March 25th, 1934 the son of the late Ranald and Lulu (Alexander) MacDonald.

Allister worked tirelessly throughout his life and had a variety of jobs: putting neon signs up in Ontario, working in the woods, driving truck, furnace maintenance and repair, and lastly, working at the Fundy Park as a carpenter assistant. He was a jack of all trades. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He enjoyed times spent with his family, many memories were made adventuring to the woods for a hunting trip or to a secret fishing hole.  They spent a lot of time travelling, laughing and having fun.   Allister was a loving husband, to Lorraine for 60 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will live on in their hearts forever. In most recent years, he enjoyed sitting in his comfy chair solving word puzzles. He appreciated his family honouring his wishes and making it possible to stay in his home until his journey on earth ended, they took such good care of him.   Allister shared a passion for old country music with his granddaughter, Emily and they enjoyed playing their fiddles together.  Now Allister and Emily are together listening to the best country music ever up there.   "The song has ended but the melody lingers on...."

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lorraine (Brewster) MacDonald; his daughters, Penny Rossiter (Jeff) of Midway and Tina MacDonald (Joel Brewer) of Moncton; sons Bryan MacDonald of Harvey, and John MacDonald (Tanya) of Riverside-Albert; his treasured grandchildren, Nick (Jodi), Brittany (Matt), Matthew, Jordan, Joseph and Joshua; cherished great grandchildren, Hunter and Autumn; sister,  Janice McKinley (Earl) of Riverview; brother, Allan MacDonald of Moncton; sister-in-law, Sandra MacDonald of Hopewell Hill.  He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and by all his extended family and friends.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Emily Rossiter; sisters, Paula, Catherine, Genevieve Gibbon (Cecil); brothers, Donald, Ranald and Wallace; sister-in-law Sheila.
