Ruby Doris Morrisey

1923-2021

Ruby Doris Morrisey
Ruby Morrisey, 97, of Forest Dale nursing home, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 27, 2021. She was born in Curryville, April 3, 1923, the daughter of Basil and Reta (Brewster) Duffy.

Ruby was a member of Hillsborough Baptist Church, sang in the Silver Chords Choir, and was a lifetime member of the Women’s Missionary Society. She became interested in missions as a young girl, avidly reading many books about various missionaries around the world and supporting missions through her local church. As a follower of Christ, she knew that church was the place to be, and brought her children up with that understanding. She faithfully attended church, even when her hearing loss meant being unable to hear much of the services.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, learning early on, the importance of relying on God. Although she experienced some difficult times, she told many stories of the ways that God faithfully answered her prayers during those times. In her later years, she was blessed to be able to remain in her apartment for a number of years, with the support of her family. Her family continued to enjoy spending time with her once she moved to Forest Dale. She taught her children well the importance of honesty, hard work, perseverance, and being committed to whatever was before them. She leaves behind many treasured memories and was a great example of what it looks like to know what you believe, and why you believe it. What a wonderful legacy.

She will be sadly missed by her children Robert Morrisey of Newmarket, Ont, Teresa Steeves of Hillsborough, Richard (Carole) Morrisey of Hillsborough, Doris (Jim) Harrison of Hillsborough, Welda Wilson of Demoiselle Creek, Mary Rushton of Prince George, B.C., Hugh (Barb) of Hillsborough, Joseph (Donna) of Calgary, Alta., Reta Beaumont of Hillsborough, and Josephine (Ray) Morley of Moncton; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. She will also be missed by sisters Mary Tingley (Cyril) and Ethel Duffy-Reis (Roy) of Harvey; nieces, nephews, and her church family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband (Joseph Eli Morrisey), sons-in-law Bob Steeves and Wendell Wilson; brother James Duffy; sisters Helena Kennie, Ruth Welford, and Eva Weir; and grandchildren Devin Morrisey and Tammy Steeves.
