Donald "Short" Austin Trites

1930-2015

 

Donald "Short" Austin Trites, 85, of Monarch Hall in Riverview passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2015 at his residence.
 
Donald was born in Moncton on May 11th, 1930 the son of the late Lester and Gertrude (Dodd) Trites. He worked as a meat cutter at Dewares Supermarket until his retirement. Donald enjoyed sports of all kinds he belonged to a Horseshoe Club and played hockey and baseball when he was younger. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Donald was a kind man and will be remembered for his smile and caring manner. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him and his great grandchildren always brightened his days. He was waiting the arrival of his new great grandson which will be here soon. Lots of fond memories and stories will be told of Great Grampy Short and he will live on in their hearts forever.
 
He will be deeply missed by his son, Dave Trites (Carol) of Riverview; daughter, Carla Steeves (Dennis) of Petitcodiac; his four cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberley (Sean), Tawnya (Lee) and Daniel (Jen); three great grandchildren; brother, Carl Trites of Moncton. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews.
 
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Stevens) Trites; sisters, Phyllis Phillips , Joan Black, Jean Stone and brother Reg Trites.
 
Honoring Donald's own wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held in the Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB.
