Bertha Bondean Demmings
1916-2014
Bertha Bondean (Horsman) Demmings, 98, of Kenneth E.
Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of Dawson Settlement passed away
peacefully on September 16th, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital with her
loving family by her side.
Bertha was raised in Indian Mountain, the daughter of
the late Harry and Dora Horsman. She was a member of the Dawson
Settlement Baptist Church and was very strong in her faith. She was a
homemaker and looked after her family with love and cared for them all
very much. She will be remembered for her great cooking. She enjoyed
gardening and took great pride in her flower beds and vegetable
gardens. Bertha was a very kind and gentle woman who would do anything
for others. She married Sydney Demmings in 1941 and being in the
ministry, she was also a woman of service to her Lord. Faith, Family
and Friends were her main priorities in life and she lived her life as
an example for others to follow. She will be hearing the words"
Well done my good and faithful servant" as she walks the streets
of gold. Your gentle smile and generous heart will live with us
forever.
She will be deeply missed by her sons, Lee Demmings
(Carolyn) of Lower Coverdale, Gary Demmimgs (Brenda) of Dawson
Settlement and daughter, Kimberly Bourque (Louis) of Moncton; six
treasured grandchildren, Natalie, Allen, Shane, Angela, Susan and
Jason; eight precious great grandchildren, Hillary, Lauren, Rebecca,
Jonathan, Alexandrea, Selena, Zachary and Camden; sister, Phyllis
Bulmer of Irishtown; brother, Albert Horsman of Indian Mountain. She
will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and by all her
friends at Spencer's Memorial Home.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband, Sydney Fletcher Demmings (1991); sisters, Audrey Gillgash and
Nina Horsman; infant brother, Harrison and brother, Christopher
Horsman.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home
with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service
will be held at the Dawson Settlement Baptist Church on Friday,
September 19th, 2014 at 2:00pm with Pastor David Ross officiating.
Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and
friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the
church reception area. Interment will be held in the Dawson Settlement
Baptist Cemetery, Dawson Settlement, NB.
