Ellen May Wells
1940-2014
Ellen May Wells,74, of Hillsborough passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital with
her loving family and friends by her
side.
Ellen was born in Saint John, NB on April 24th, 1940
the daughter of the late Cecil and Georgena (Welling) McWilliam. She
attended Moncton High and attended the Moncton Hospital School of
Nursing. She worked most of her life at the Scotiabank, Hillsborough
Branch, serving as Branch Manager before her retirement. Ellen was a
member of the Hillsborough Baptist Church. After her so called
retirement she kept busy with several duties and hobbies. She worked
with Elections Canada, at the Hopewell Rocks, with H&R Block
and was a Senior Goodwill Ambassador. She was involved in many
community events and served on the Village Council from 1995-2001 and
was awarded for her Dedicated Municipal Service. She was a member of
ITC, Toast Masters, Women’s Probus Club of SE NB, Order of
the Eastern Star, Fundy Red Hatters Society, and Bicentennial Skating
Club. She enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, and geocaching
with her husband Bob. She volunteered for the Hillsborough Fashions
Gala to raise money for Breast Cancer awareness and participated in
the ALS fundraising walk. Ellen loved travelling and had travelled all
over the world on many trips with family and friends. She was an avid
gardener and played Bridge every Monday. She enjoyed all crafts,
scrapbooking, knitting, quilting and clowning. She had a great sense
of humor and was just the kind of person you would want to be around.
Her family was her life, and she was always talking about her precious
grandchildren and all their accomplishments. Ellen was a very special
lady who will definitely live on in her legacy and in the hearts of
all who knew her. "Only a Smile
away."
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 52
years, Ralph "Bob" Wells; son, Scott Wells of Hillsborough;
daughter-in-law, Dorothy Wells of Quispamsis; and by her cherished
grandchildren, Sean, Emma, Stephanie and Corey and their mother, Julie
Hopkins of Riverview; brother John McWilliam (Carol) of Woodstock, ON;
sister-in-law, Shirley Fenton (Stan) of Hillsborough; nephews, David
McWilliam (Melissa) of Oakville, ON and Shayne Fenton (Bonny) of
Riverview. She will be missed by many good
friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by an infant
son, R. Gordon and son, Stephen.
She will be resting at the Hillsborough Baptist Church
(26 Braam St, Hillsborough), with visitation on Friday from 6-9pm. The
funeral service will be held at the Hillsborough Baptist Church on
Saturday, August 16th, 2014 at 2:00pm with Rev. Dean MacDonald
officiating.

Association or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly
appreciated.
