Peggy Ann Simpson

1948-2019

Peggy Ann Simpson
Peggy Ann Simpson, 70, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on April 23rd, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side.

Peggy was born in Hillsborough on June 30,1948, the daughter of the late Cecil Edward "John"  and Nina (Steeves) Ward.

Peggy worked with the Salvation Army at Lakeview Manor for many years.  She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and attended faithfully when she was able.  Peggy had many hobbies; she enjoyed gardening and her beautiful flower gardens that surrounded her house were proof of her passion. She enjoyed a good card game especially her regular Bridge games, she enjoyed doing cross stitch and many of them were framed and given to family members.  She was an avid golfer and could be found at the Hillsborough Golf Course on a regular basis which may have been a family trait, as they are all golfers.  Peggy lived her life to the fullest and her main priority was her family.   She was always willing to give up her time to be there when needed.  She was the rock of the family; her strength and ability to take whatever came her way was shown throughout her battle with cancer, her positive attitude and perseverance never wavered.  Peggy will be remembered for her great sense of humour and ability to laugh in all situations.  She would want everyone to save their tears and remember the love you shared and all the good times. Those we love don't go away they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near. "Always in our hearts".

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Tammy Woodworth (Jeff) of Hillsborough and Shelley Simpson (Mike) of Moncton; son, David Simpson (Kelly) of Hillsborough; her cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Jordan, Ryan, Jocelyn, Tyler, Jared, Alex and Paige and 6 treasured great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Wissink (Derk) of Moncton, Connie MacDonald of Riverside-Albert, Judy DerFong of Moncton; brothers, Johnny Ward of Moncton and Peter Ward (Tamie) of Salem; sisters-in-law, Diane Geldart (Vincent) and Susan Steeves (John) both of Edgett's Landing.   She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Grant Allan 'Hammer" Simpson in 2017.

Honouring Peggy's own wishes there will be no visitation.  A Celebration of her life and Memorial Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Saturday April 27th, 2019 at 2:00pm with Pastor Dan Steeves and Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating.  Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Edgett's Landing, NB.

Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital (Palliative Care Unit), Green Hill Cemetery (Paving Fund), or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
