Wilma Ada Johnson

1922-2019

Wilma Ada Johnson

Wilma Johnson, 96, of Forest Dale Nursing Home passed away peacefully on April 21st, 2019 at the home.

She was born in Bracebridge, ON, on September 21,1922, the daughter of the late John and Ada (Meeks) Slater.

Wilma worked in retail throughout her life and last worked at Sears. She enjoyed the social aspect of being in retail and was always quick to lend a helping hand to the customers. The most important thing to Wilma was her family.  She would often be seen in Riverside-Albert at Maple's Canteen assisting Donna and Ron any way she could.  She had a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren and never wanted to miss any of the activities they were involved in; she was always there to support them. When her great grandchildren came along she was very happy and cherished all the memories she made with them. Wilma loved her family very much and was proud of everything they accomplished.  She will be remembered for her kind and caring ways and her  love of her family. She will live on in our hearts forever. "Family is where life begins and love never ends"

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Donna Alward (Ron) of Riverside-Albert; her treasured grandchildren Steven Alward (Holly) of Port Elgin and Donald Alward (Heather) of Hillsborough; her precious great grandchildren Rainy, Samuel, Jonathan, and Ada; nieces Sharon Weber (Lyle) , Brenda Meades (Steve),  Pam Monk (Rick); nephews Bradley Slater (Vivian), Don Slater (Margaret), David Helm.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Herbert Johnson; her two brothers Russell Slater (Betty) and Raymond Slater (Frieda); nephew Doug Slater (Patti) and niece Debbie Helm.

She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm.  The Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25th, 2019 at 2:00pm with Rev Barbara Haire officiating.
