Daniel "Danny" Llewellyn Young

Danny Young, 61, of Hillsborough passed away on February 14th, 2019, at the Moncton Hospital with his loving family by his side. 

 

He was born in Digby, NS on October 13th, 1957 the son of the late Llewellyn and Joan (Elliott) Young.

 

Danny last worked at the Caledonia Forestry.  He enjoyed woodworking and could build anything from lighthouses, seagulls and whirligigs, and his most treasured work was the toy boxes he made for his grandchildren.  He enjoyed doing sudoku, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and listening to country music. He had a special place in his heart for animals and loved his dog Nyla, she was his big baby.  Danny felt overwhelmed by all the support he has been given since his illness from his friends and community and wants everyone to know how much he appreciated all the help and support given to him.  He loved his family so much and would want them to treasure all the memories and good times they shared. What we keep in memory is ours forever.

 

He will be deeply missed by his best friend and wife, Dianna (Brewster); his daughters, Joni Smith of Moncton, Julie MacTavish (Tim) of Saint John and Sarah Young (Lee) of Quispamsis; his cherished grandchildren, Bret, Hailey, Mackenzie (Kiana), Hailee, Kahlan, Mya, Noah, Annabelle and Arianna; precious great grandchildren, Ezra and Finley.  He will also be missed by his step-mother, Ruth Young of Hillsborough; brothers, Carey Young (Hazel) of Fredericton, Derrick Young of Moncton and Adrian Young of Hillsborough; sister, Katherine Tingley (Herb) of Beaverbrook; sisters-in-law, Daphna Wilbur (Harold), Darlene Brewster, Shirley Brewster and Mary Lindsay all of Hillsborough; brothers-in-law, Bill Brewster of Harvey and Gilbert Brewster (Bernice) of Moncton; also by several nieces and nephews.

 

Honouring Danny's own wishes there will be no visitation.  A Celebration of his Life and Memorial service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at 2:00pm with Rev. Dean MacDonald officiating.  Interment will be in NS in the spring.

 

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated.

 

The family would like to take this opportunity to say a very special thank you to the Dr. Georges L-Dumont Hospital in the Oncology Department where Danny first got his treatments and to the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care unit for being there at the end.  All the doctors and nurses went above and beyond in making Danny and his family comfortable, the kindness shown and support given will never be forgotten.
