Laura Augusta Steeves

1932-2018

Laura Augusta Steeves

Laura Augusta Steeves, 86, of Hillsborough , widow of Milton "Mood" Steeves, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on September 6th, 2018.  She passed away at the Moncton Hospital with her family by her side.

Laura was born in Hillsborough on February 4th, 1932 the daughter of the late John M. and Sarah A. Steeves.  She worked at T.E. Eaton Company in her earlier years.  Later she worked as a custodian at Caledonia Regional High School where she retired.  Her faith was very important to her, she was a member of the Hillsborough Baptist Church.    She enjoyed making bread and cookies and spent a lot of time in the kitchen baking for her family and friends.   She enjoyed being with her family and enjoyed going with her family on their annual shopping bus trips when she was able.   Laura was always up for a fun time and loved to laugh.  She never shied away from anything whether doing a skit or just clowning around, she will be remembered for her great smile.  She was glad to have maintained her Independence and stayed in her own place going to the hospital just last week.  She did not want a lot of tears and sadness as she is just moving onto the next step and she would say "It is not goodbye but see you later".  Until we meet again.   "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."  2 Corinthians 5 vs.8

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Roxanne Morrissey (Kenny) of Edgett's Landing; sons, Brian Steeves (Phyllis) of Weldon and Emmerson Steeves of Hillsborough; her cherished grandchildren, Julie Gaudet (Mike), Melinda Morrissey (Harley), Corey Steeves (Vanessa), Lauren Morrissey (Bruce) ; her precious great grandchildren, Jacque and Hannah, she was looking forward to the arrival of her second great grandson at the end of September who will be told of her legacy as he grows ; brother, Walter Steeves of Hillsborough.  She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and by all her extended family and friends.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Milton "Mood" Steeves; sisters, Evelyn, Florence and Helen; brothers, George, Earl, Louis, Karl and Charles.

She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home, with visitation on Saturday from 6-9pm.  The funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at the Hillsborough Baptist Church, 26 Braam Crescent, Hillsborough on Sunday, September 9th, 2018 at 3:00pm with Rev. Geoff deJong an Rev.
