John "Walter" Rossiter
1935-2017
Walter Rossiter, 82, of Riverside-Albert passed away on October 10th, 2017 at the Forest Dale Nursing Home.
Walter was born in Riverside-Albert on July 9th, 1935 the
son of the late Joseph and Clara (Duffy) Rossiter.
He joined the military when he was young and was a Combat Paratrooper
for 33 years. He served his country with great pride and
dedication, when he was injured doing a jump as soon as he recovered
from his injuries, he went back and continued with the paratrooper
division. He also worked as an accountant
administrator. After his retirement he worked as a
Commissionaire with Fundy National Park for 29 years. He was
Past President and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch
# 32, Hillsborough. He faithfully took part in the
Remembrance Day Services and was Parade Commander for several
years. Walter will also be remembered for his
immaculate yard, he kept his property clean and was very
meticulous. Walter felt blessed to have had the support and
care from his devoted wife Janet, who made it possible for him to stay
in his own home for as long as he did. Also he was grateful
to Eddie for all the support and kindness in getting him to
appointments and helping out whenever needed. May Walter rest in
peace, many times he recited the following: " Lord God of Hosts,
Be with us yet Lest we forget, Lest we forget."
He will be missed by his wife, Janet
(Copp) Rossiter; daughters, Anne-Marie Weston of Waterside
and Susan Rossiter of Riverside-Albert; son, John
Lawrence Rossiter of Moncton; his treasured
grandchildren; step-son, Edward Bennett (Susan) of Midway
and step-daughter, Donna Muise (Kenny) of Midway; sister
Catherine Nickerson (Gary) of London, ON;
brother-in-law, Alton McKinley of
Riverside-Albert. He will also be missed by nieces
and nephews, all his Comrade's and by all his extended
family.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Gerald
and Raymond; sisters, Geraldine and
Josephine.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Thursday evening from 7-9pm with Parish
Prayers and sharing of memories at 8:30pm. The funeral will
be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Friday, October 13th,
2017 at 2pm with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. The
Legion Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at
1:45 pm just prior to the funeral
service.
Interment will be in the Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell
Hill, NB.
