Ruth Eleanor Welford

1929-2017

Ruth Eleanor Welford
Ruth Eleanor Welford, 88, of Beaverbrook passed away peacefully on July 12, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side.

Ruth was born in Harvey on February 9, 1929, the daughter of the late Basil and Reta (Brewster) Duffy. She was a Teacher for over 20 years and then worked for the government, first as a training officer with Canada Manpower and then with the Department of Immigration before she retired.  She was a hard worker and loved learning; she took summer school courses whenever she had the opportunity to enhance her knowledge.  After she retired, she was active in and served as Past President of the Halifax/Bedford PC Women.  She also enjoyed being a Mary Kay consultant and loved sharing their products.  Ruth was "small but mighty" and a kind, caring person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Beverley Lockhart (Lynn) of Beaverbrook and Cynthia Parker (Alex Oderkirk) of Tatamagouche, NS;  grandchildren, Kimberley Myers (Donnie) , Heather Lockhart, Eric Lockhart (Stacey), Stephanie Lowe (Haysley), Luke Parker (Sandra Muise), and Paula Parker; treasured great grandchildren, Ashley, Darren, Kiera, Veronica, Corina, and Lucia; cherished great-great grandchildren, Emma and Max; sisters Ruby Morrisey of Riverside-Albert, Eva Weir of Amherst, NS, Mary Tingley (Cyril) of Harvey and Ethel Duffy Ries (Roy) of Mary's Point.  She will also be missed by her step-daughters, Victoria (Martin) of QE and Gina of USA; several nieces and nephews and by her long time care givers, Beverely Beaman, Marilyn MacDonald, Nebiyat Gebrab, Peggy O'Connor and Susan Elliott who were all very special to Ruth.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Philipp; two infant daughters; sister, Helena and brother, James.

Honoring Ruth's own wishes there will be no visitation.  A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Friday, July 14th, 2017 at 3:00pm.  Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.  Immediately following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home.
