Russell Bernard "Bernie" Black

1948-2017

Russell Bernard "Bernie" Black

Russell Bernard "Bernie" Black, 68, of Curryville passed away suddenly on May 21, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital.

Bernie was born in Riverside on August 29, 1948 the son of the late Russell and Marion (Fenton) Black.  Bernie had many jobs throughout his life. He was a mechanic and worked for Uniroyal Tire, owned and operated Black's Auto Center in Riverside-Albert, worked with his brother-in-law, Arden at Beaumont's Esso, at the Hillsborough Garage and retired from T.P. Downey & Sons where he drove machinery.  After his retirement he kept busy helping neighbors and friends whenever they needed a hand. He was a member of the Lower Cape Baptist Church and sang in the choir.   He was an avid sports fan.  He played hockey, softball and was on the tug-of-war team, arm wrestling competitions, he also enjoyed bowling and golfing.  He could be found many of days on the Alma and Hillsborough golf courses.  He liked touring around the county on his Honda Goldwing motorcycle.  He had a special place in his heart for animals and always took in strays, especially cats, he just couldn't see them not looked after. He also loved a good card game always holding back till he could make a big finish at the end.   Above all things was Bernie's love of family, he was always there when needed and was the rock of the family.  He would want all his family and friends to remember all the fun and good times they shared. He will be fondly remembered for his teasing and tormenting.  You could always see the twinkle in his eye and that big grin when he was up to something. "His good character and the kindness of his heart won the affection of his loved ones.  He was loved by all."

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend, Linda (Beaumont) Black; sons, Tim Black (Tina) of Albert Mines, Rick Black (Bonita) of Edgett's Landing and Randy Black of Moncton; precious grandchildren, Robin (Matt), Brooke (Greg), Brogan, Briana, Bryce and Briley; cherished great grandchildren, Owen and Liam; sisters, Mabel McKinley (Marvyn) of Riverview, Shirley Simkins (Ralph) of Lower Coverdale and Sandra Nelson (Cerdic) of Riverside-Albert; sisters-in-law, Verna Beaumont (Gilles) of Riverview and Marion Corey (Charlie) of Moncton; brother-in-law, Arden Beaumont (Marney) of Hillsbrough.  He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
