Neil Edwin Douthwright
1929-2017
Neil Edwin Douthwright, 88, of Forest Dale Home and
formerly of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017 at the
home with his devoted wife by his side.
Neil was born in Demoiselle Creek on March 26, 1929 the son
of the late Wilfred and Gladys (Steeves) Douthwright. Neil worked in
the woods and sawmills, and CNR as a brakeman, then worked at Canada
Post until his retirement. He was a lifetime member and past
president of the Hillsborough Legion, Branch #32. In his
younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also
enjoyed a good round of golf. He loved being on the ball
field whether it was playing or coaching, having coached the
Hillsborough Girls softball team for several years. He also
enjoyed building things and playing any kind of card game.
In his later years he couldn't play but he thoroughly enjoyed watching
sports on tv. He will be remembered for his quick wit and
for his great smile. He was always joking around and having
fun. "What we keep in memory is ours
forever."
He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 18
years, Brenda (Stannard) Douthwright; his daughters, Tracey Knowlton
(Lewis) of Alberta and Trudy Hall (Joe) of BC; step-sons, Geremiah
Geldart (Kristi) of Ontario and Jesse Geldart of Moncton; his precious
grandchildren, Natalie, Logan, Cody and Kyle; step-grandchildren,
Gensen, Griffen and Georgia; sister-in-law, Lorraine Douthwright of
Ontario. He will also be missed by several nieces and
nephews.
