Neil Edwin  Douthwright
Neil Edwin Douthwright, 88, of Forest Dale Home and formerly of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017 at the home with his devoted wife by his side.
 
Neil was born in Demoiselle Creek on March 26, 1929 the son of the late Wilfred and Gladys (Steeves) Douthwright. Neil worked in the woods and sawmills, and CNR as a brakeman, then worked at Canada Post until his retirement.  He was a lifetime member and past president of the Hillsborough Legion, Branch #32.  In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed a good round of golf.  He loved being on the ball field whether it was playing or coaching, having coached the Hillsborough Girls softball team for several years.  He also enjoyed building things and playing any kind of card game.  In his later years he couldn't play but he thoroughly enjoyed watching sports on tv.  He will be remembered for his quick wit and for his great smile.  He was always joking around and having fun. "What we keep in memory is ours forever."
 
He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 18 years, Brenda (Stannard) Douthwright; his daughters, Tracey Knowlton (Lewis) of Alberta and Trudy Hall (Joe) of BC; step-sons, Geremiah Geldart (Kristi) of Ontario and Jesse Geldart of Moncton; his precious grandchildren, Natalie, Logan, Cody and Kyle; step-grandchildren, Gensen, Griffen and Georgia; sister-in-law, Lorraine Douthwright of Ontario.  He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
 
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother, Blair Douthwright, half-brothers, Fletcher Woodworth and Freddie Woodworth (Leola) and half-sister, Della Copp (Clifford).  
 
Honoring Neil's own wishes there will be no visitation.  A Celebration of his life will be held at Brenda's home, 225 MacBeath Avenue, Moncton, NB on June 3rd, 2017 from 2-6pm.  Everyone is invited to come and share memories and reminisce about all the good times with Neil.
 
Donations to the Curryville Cemetery or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
