Austin Charles Tingley

1949-2017

Austin Charles Tingley

Austin Charles Tingley, 67, of Edgett's Landing passed away on April 19th, 2017 at his home.

Austin was born in Riverside, NB on May 5, 1949 the son of the late Charles and Stella (Cameron) Tingley.

Austin worked in the woods when he was young, then he went to work  for  T.P. Downey & Sons Ltd. for 35 years until he retired.  He was the type of guy who could fix anything, when Downey's big harvester burnt, Austin rebuilt it from the ground up and got it working like new.  He worked in the mill and if anything needed fixed, Austin was your man.  He often went to kitchen parties and variety shows, you could find Austin with his guitar and singing whenever he got the chance.   After his retirement woodworking became his passion and made a lot of different things like octagon picnic tables, wheelbarrows, and his lighthouse lawn ornaments. He also spent a lot of time in his garage tinkering with lawnmowers and sharpening chainsaws. He enjoyed being outdoors and his garden. He had a love of dogs and you could see him every day walking his dog up and down the road.  He took it hard when his dog "Phibie" passed away but then "Trixie" came to fill the void.  He was a good neighbor and friend, he will be missed in his community.  Always willing to give a helping hand.    Austin loved his family very much and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.  He may have had some struggles but he would want everyone to remember the good times and all the fun they had over the years.  Just think of his big grin " Fond Memories Cling."

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara; sons, Kevin Tingley (Melissa) of Boundary Creek and Dennis Tingley of Moncton; treasured grandchildren, Andrew and Samantha; sisters, Barbara Spence of Moncton, Della Steeves of Hillsborough and Loretta Weir (Greg) of Lower Coverdale; brothers,  Ivan Tingley of Riverside-Albert and Terry Tingley (Kim) of Riverview.  He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, Lawrence; sister, Beatrice; brother, Ernie.

He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Monday, April 24th, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating.  Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.
