Claude Reginald Porter
1934-2017
Claude Reginald Porter, 83, of Germantown, passed away
suddenly on April 10th, 2017 at his home.
Claude was born on April 7th, 1934, the son of the late
Myles and Theora (Matthews) Porter.
Claude was a hard worker and had many jobs throughout his
life. He was a linesman for CN and he spent a lot of his time around
the lumber mills and driving log trucks. Last working at the
Department of Transportation for 35 years until his retirement. Claude
had a lot of stories about his D.O.T. days with the boys. He
enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. He also
liked going to Blue Grass Festivals throughout the area. He
felt blessed to have his daughter live next door and being able to
play such an important role in his grandchildren's lives. He
will be remembered for his caring ways, especially to his
children. Claude had a great sense of humour and
loved to tease. He seemed to have met his match with his great
granddaughter Macie, the two of them would carry on endlessly. Macie
always joked with "Old Gramps" about Dodges being better
than Chevs knowing that he was a Chev man. His smile will
live on in our hearts forever. " A Golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest. God broke our heart to prove to us, He
only takes the best."
He will be deeply missed by his daughter Bonnie Rossiter
(Bob) of Germantown; his treasured grandchildren, Tyler Rossiter
(Lisa) of Weldon, Jackie Steeves (Matthew) of Hillsborough; his
precious great granddaughter Macie; sisters, Verna Steeves of
Hillsborough and Elsie Kenney of Riverview; his brothers, Esmond
Porter (Marilyn) of Germantown and Donald Porter (Marilyn) of
Riverside-Albert. He will also be missed by several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife
Eleanor (Jonah) Porter; sons Gary and Reggie; daughter Sharon;
brother-in-law Ottis Steeves.
