1946-2017

Eric Claude Steeves, 70, of Shenstone, passed away on March 16th, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital with his family by his side.

Eric was born on November 25th, 1946, the son of the late Claude and Edna (Wilson) Steeves.

He spent his life working as a plaster drywaller and was known throughout Albert County and surrounding areas for his expertise in drywalling.   His door was always open, his family and friends all knew if they needed a place to crash, they were welcome at Eric and Phyllis's home, day or night. He also enjoyed a good game of crokinole or playing a game of cards, 200 was his favorite.  He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He loved to laugh and tease. He had a very grumpy way about him at first, but you could always see past that when he would say something smart then see that little smirk and twinkle in his eye. He will be remembered for telling his funny stories and his dry wit.     "Only a smile away"

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Bustard (Ron) of Cumberland Bay; son Michael Steeves of Shenstone; treasured grandchildren, Jordan, Stephanie, Colton, Kayley, Kyley; step grandchildren, Krista and Erica; step great-grandsons, Evan and Tyler; sisters,  Carol Reade (Loyal) of Little River, Sharon Wortman of Dawson Settlement, Libby Stannard (Tom) of Hillsborough; brother, Michael Steeves (Doreen) of Weldon; sisters-in-law, Donna MacLeod of Salisbury, Marilyn Pollock (Dan) of Petitcodiac; brother-in-law, Lee MacLeod (Chris) of Havelock.  He will also be missed by his close friends, Tom and Anne Prosser, Maurice and Jeannie Steeves and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (2012); brother, Darrell and best friend, James "Sonny" Wortman.
