Michael "Mike" Eric Beck Sr.

1959-2017

Michael "Mike" Eric Beck Sr.

Michael "Mike" Eric Beck Sr, 57, of Hillsborough and formerly of Albert Mines passed away peacefully on February 22, 2017 at Forest Dale Home with his loving family by his side.  He struggled with the early onset of Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease for the past few years.

Mike was born in Moncton on  May 18,1959  the son of Leo Beck and the late Ruby (Douthwright) Beck. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church.   He worked in the woods with his dad when he was young, then worked at CNR, after that he went back to school for his truck and transport repair, graduating on the honor roll. He worked as a school bus driver for over 20 years before his illness prevented him from driving.  In his spare time, he was a shuttle driver at the ROCKS  and also worked for the Village of Hillsborough at the rink, driving the Zamboni.   He loved children and had a special way with them.  He had a very quiet demeanor about him but always had that little smile and those sparkling brown eyes.  He enjoyed being outdoors and loved spending time at the camp in New Ireland, it was his haven. He would spend hours in his garage tinkering on his trucks and his original three wheeler and newer four wheeler.  He also had a special place in his heart for animals especially his dog, Chip and Felix the cat.   Mike loved his family and would light up when the grandchildren came for a visit.  He would do anything for them,  Aiden was always by his grampy's side.  Mike would even play dress up with Grace at times, he never said no. His family was the most important thing to him, he went on an airplane out west to visit his son and grandsons when he was terrified of flying but his love of family made him conquer his fear. He has left his family with great memories and they will cherish the good times and  remember all the fun they had together.  Mike may have changed over the past few years but his legacy outshone his illness and he may not have recognized all his family members at times but they remembered him and how he impacted their lives for the better. He will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and friends forever.

He will be deeply missed by his father, Leo Beck of Hillsborough; devoted  wife of and best friend, Jackie"Jake" Beck of Hillsborough; sons, Mike Eric Beck Jr. of Grande Prairie, Alberta and Jason Beck of Albert Mines; his precious grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Aiden and Grace; sisters, Kathy Beck of Moncton and Charlene Beck of Riverview; brothers, Paul Beck (Bonnie) of Riverside-Albert, Brian Beck (Sherry) of Riverside-Albert and Charles Beck (Debbie) of Riverside-Albert; aunt Rena Beaumont of Riverview; mother-in-law, Margrethe Steeves of Riverview; sisters-in-law, Deborah Elsmere (Edward) of Darmouth, Karen Hellenbrand (Uwe) of Germany; brothers-in-law, Sheldon Steeves (Nancy) of NFLD and Stephen Steeves (Monique) of Riverview  He will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
