Don "Joe" Dennis Simpson

1924-2017

Don "Joe" Dennis Simpson
Don "Joe" Simpson ,92, of Hillsborough passed away on Friday, February 10th, 2017 at Forest Dale Home surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born in Surrey, Albert County on December 1st, 1924 the son of the late Lloyd and Lavangie (Terris) Simpson.

He owned and operated Simpson's Grocery in Hillsborough for many years.  He was known for his kindness and generosity in the community,  making lots of deliveries to those who couldn't get out.  Joe had many skills and when he retired from the store he worked as a carpenter and enjoyed wood working.  He really enjoyed the outdoors and being in nature.  He could be found driving his four wheeler all over the county.  He loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he would do anything for them.  He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and that little smirk when he was teasing.  Joe felt blessed to have had the support of his family and the fact that they kept him home for three years and looked after his every need when he was failing in health, it meant the world to him. He will live on in our hearts forever.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lorna (McKinley) Simpson; daughters, Judy Simpson of Hillsborough and Rhonda Carter (Kent) of Shediac Bridge; son, Dennis Simpson (Donna) of Hillsborough; his treasured grandchildren, Donn (Julie), Shawn (Janice), Melissa (Shane), Jeremy (Sarah) and Andrea Maillet (Jamie); his precious great grandchildren, Robin (Joey), Mitchel, Alexander and Zoey; brother, Vaughn "Bun" Simpson, sister, Muriel Hawkes and sister-in-law, Annie Simpson all of Hillsborough.  He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn; brothers, Glendon "Dick", Curtis, Royden "Ted"; sisters, Marion, Shirley and Ruby.

Honoring Joe's own request there will be no visitation.  A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating. The family will be meeting with relatives and friends following the service for further sharing of memories and for refreshments.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Forest Dale Home would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Albert County Home Care Ladies, Laura, Jessica, Carol, Elaine, Jill and Cheryl and to the Staff of Forest Dale Home for all the kindness shown and support given.  It will never be forgotten.
