Douglas James Kelly

1934-2016

Douglas James Kelly
Douglas James Kelly
At his beloved cottage in Alma, Doug, 82, passed away peacefully on September 29th, 2016 with his wife of 60 years by his side.

He was born in Alma the son of the late Judson and Miriam (Alcorn) Kelly. Doug loved returning to his roots.  He especially enjoyed the past nine years golfing with his family in Fundy National Park.

After graduating from the Maritime Forest Rangers School and accepting a job with the Federal Department of Forestry, Doug and Wanda moved to Fredericton.  During his 35 years with forestry, his main focus was on Forest Pathology.

Doug could never be idle. He started driving trucks and heavy machinery at the age of 12 which eventually lead to him operating his own buisness.  He loved the smell of diesel and driving backhoes and dozers, his "toys".  Many Frederictonians will remember Doug through snow removal, trucking and landscaping. He has left us all great memories and will live on in our hearts forever.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Wanda Manning who he married on May 19th, 1956; his three children, Ann (Mike Dollimore), Douglas, and  Mary (Keith McCarthy); three grandchildren, Mark Bonham (Jessica), Mathew Kelly (Laura) and Kelly McCarthy; his five great grandchildren, Hudson, Willow and Griffin Bonham, and Kye and Mia Kelly; sisters, Helen Lindsay and Margaret Ann Williamson; brothers, Floyd Kelly (Patricia) and Ken Kelly (Laurette).  He will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Doug's own wishes there will be no visitation.  A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 at 3:00pm with Rev. Laurie Fenerty officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home reception area.   Interment will be held at the Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB at a later date.
