Sylvia Doreen Stevens

1936-2016

Sylvia Doreen Stevens
Sylvia Doreen Stevens, 80, of Lower Cape passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sylvia Doreen Stevens was born in West River on September 2nd, 1936 the daughter of the late Judson and Hazel (Wilson) Lyman.  Sylvia was a faithful member of the Lower Cape Baptist Church, having served as church clerk for over 20 years and also taught Sunday School for several years.  She enjoyed knitting and quilting, making sure her family and friends got at least one quilt from her. She started a little shop in her house and sold many crafts, sweaters, mittens and quilts.   She enjoyed the Lower Cape Community Club where she gathered with her friends and neighbours for fun times and lots of laughter.  She was always involved in community showers, suppers and was the one to call for anything needed.  Above all things she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she loved her times on the farm with her family.   When she wasn't cooking or sewing she could be found out in her vegetable garden, flower gardens, helping out in the barn or just walking the woodlot with Merrill.  She loved being outside and in nature. Her family all knew she was not far if they needed her help.  She will be remembered for her ability to get things done. She is now at peace and hearing the words "well done my good and faithful servant".  She will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 60 years, Merrill; her daughters, Carol Milton (Parker) of Stoney Creek, Diane Trites (Stephen) of Riverview, Marilyn Melanson (Earl) of Moncton, Heather Prescott (Terry) of Bass River, NS; sons, Stephen (Marilyn) of Salisbury and Kenneth (Cindy) of Cape Station and daughter-in-law, Cindy Stevens of Valley, NS; her treasured 15 grandchildren and 6 cherished great grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Hoar (George) of Riverside-Albert and Glenda Wright of Riverview.  She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and by all her in-laws and extended family.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son, Roger (May 2016) ; sister, Maxine Bennett (March 1999)

She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  The funeral service will be held from the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016 at 2:00pm with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating.  Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, NB.
